Algae Resistant Tank

An algae-resistant water storage tank comes in various types and forms, with its plastic variant gaining importance due to its lightweight, ease of transportation, and ability to retain water color, odor, and taste over extended periods. However, a fundamental issue with single-layer polymer water tanks is sunlight penetration, which promotes algae growth and microorganism accumulation, ultimately leading to deposits that can clog water outlets and degrade water quality. To mitigate this issue, algae-resistant tanks are essential. Specifically, double-layer and multi-layer polymer tanks prevent light penetration, thus inhibiting bacterial, algae, and microorganism growth.

Construction of Algae Resistant Tanks

To construct an algae-resistant water storage tank, typically, it consists of an outer and inner layer that are colorless, with a black middle layer using soot to prevent light passage. This black pigment must be of Food Grade quality. Using three-layer algae-resistant tanks enhances puncture resistance and prevents tank perforation, which itself can promote algae growth. To test light exclusion, during a sunny day, slightly raise the tank door edge to prevent additional light entry while ensuring no light passes through internal tank surfaces. These tanks should be positioned on a smooth surface.

In addition to being multi-layered, algae-resistant water storage tanks necessitate periodic filtration and the use of algae-resistant materials during cleaning. However, these methods are relatively costly. Therefore, constructing a multi-layer tank that completely blocks light is crucial, especially in tropical environments with abundant sunlight.
