The use and design of water tanks vary widely. One of these is the air storage water tank. Essentially, the purpose of using an air storage water tank is to increase water pressure. These tanks can be situated at heights of approximately 50 meters above ground level. Elevated base tanks are known as air storage tanks and come in four different types: metal, concrete, polyethylene, and composite. When facing water scarcity and rapid population growth, these tanks play a crucial role. They are designed in various capacities ranging from very small to large volumes to meet the water supply needs of a city. During periods of high water consumption and low water pressure, air storage tanks can maintain average pressure, thus promoting water savings and ease of use.

Advantages of Polymeric Air Storage Tanks

Today, polymeric air storage water tanks are preferred over metallic ones because metallic tanks corrode over time, requiring frequent repairs which are both troublesome and costly. Additionally, in all-metal tanks, the taste and odor of water change over extended periods, making it unsuitable for drinking. Conversely, materials like polyethylene do not react chemically with the tank’s contents and are produced in food-grade standards. Weight is a significant issue for air storage tanks. Lighter weight and high resistance result in better efficiency. Composite tanks are also lightweight and offer excellent durability, replacing metallic tanks due to their easy installation and absence of metal-related issues as previously mentioned. Multi-layered and composite polymeric tanks do not promote algae growth and require minimal periodic cleaning, thus proving cost-effective. Besides material, the shape of air storage tanks can vary, including conical, cylindrical, spherical, and cubical (prefabricated and modular types).
